About

Callum Hughes

Callum is a highly talented all round cricketer with huge amounts of potential. Callum is the definition of a pure all-rounder. He boasts great talent with both bat and ball and is an excellent fielder.

Callum is a very versatile batsman. Typically seen batting in the top and middle order, he bats with maturity beyond his years. He is able to bat for long periods, anchor an innings to build partnerships but can also take it up a gear with his impressive ball striking ability. This enables him to take the attack to the opposition bowlers, whether it's seam or spin, to either get his team off to a good start, build a high scoring innings or finish a game off. His attacking stroke play coupled with his confidence and all round scoring ability makes him a formiddable run-scorer.

With the ball in hand, Callum can be seen opening the bowling or bowling first change. His bowls with good pace and consistency which often troubles even the best of players early on in an innings. He has excellent control of the ball, having the ability to swing it both ways but also control his line and length well.

Callum is currently completing his education at Somerset College where he has been a prominent member of the 1st XI for four years and captained in his final year.  During this time, he has received multiple cricketing awards including his colours for cricket, a well earned and prestigious achievement amongst South African schools. In 2025 he was awarded Player of the Year. No surprise given his talent.

Throughout his school career he has scored over 1500 runs and taken 102 wickets. One innings included a blistering 119 runs off 67 balls.

Callum represented Boland u17 in 2024 and this year is currently amongst the final 26 players for Boland u19 with the final squad expected to be announced later this year.

Callum was selected as part of the All-Rounder Cricket Academy which toured the UK in 2024 and 2025. The academy played against a number of prominent UK based schools. During these tours he was awarded multiple Man of the Match awards.

Callum also holds a CSA Level 1 coaching qualification (ECB Level 2 equivalent). He has coaching experience through assisting at the Leading-Edge Academy where he helped coach underpriviledged cricketers.

The dual passport holder is now seeking a full season in the UK. His all-round cricketing ability makes him an attractive asset to any team looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and talented all-rounder.
