Dan is a talented all-rounder from South Yorkshire. He can often be seen contributing well with both bat and ball for Sprotbrough CC.
Dan started his senior cricket career as a top order batsman and first change bowler for Sprotbrough CC who compete in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League - Championship division (one below Premier). During this time, he was representing South Yorkshire u17.
For 3 years, Dan batted in the top four, often opening the batting. He performed well in these roles and was looked at as one of the league's top young talents.
Dan slowly transitioned into a middle order batsman and opening bowler. This suited his batting style as he enjoys taking the attack to the bowlers and plays spin well. Since taking the new ball, Dan has had immense success due to his excellent control and ability to swing and seam the ball both ways. This combined with his impressive consistency of bowling stump to stump on a good length makes him a lethal opening bowler. He is also a prolific and athletic fielder that puts his body on the line and has a safe pair of hands.
Dan has a number of noteworthy achievements which include:
- Represented South Yorkshire from u11 to u17.
- Most maidens bowled across all divisions of the South Yorkshire League bowling 61 maidens in 2023 and 67 maidens in 2024.
- In 2023, he was the highest wicket-taker by a local seam bowler in the league which included 43 wickets @14.37.
- In 2024, he was the leading wicket-taker by a seam bowler in the league with 53 wickets @15.53
- Selected for the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League u23 team against the MCC.
- Two time Whitworth Cup winner with Sprotbrough CC.
- Highest wicket-taking seamer in the championship league two season in a row.
- Winner of the Sprotbrough CC 1st team bowling award.
Over the previous three seasons, Dan has consistently scored above 500 runs and taken over 40 wickets - 598 runs and 46 wickets (2022), 512 runs and 70 wickets (2023) and 560 runs and 60 wickets (2024).
Unsurprisingly, Dan has received multiple offers from premier league clubs over the past two years, however he has remained loyal to his childhood club and aims to lead them to promotion this year.
Dan also has coaching experience having done sessions with his club's junior section.
Dan is now looking to experience his first season in Australia where he can test his skills and enjoy his cricket. A talented, competitive cricketer on the field and a great bloke off the field he would be a great signing for any club seeking a reliable all-rounder.
