About

Hanu Viljoen

Hanu is an exciting, extremely talented, hard-hitting batsman. At the crease, he is a dominating presence. His hard-hitting stroke play and unrivaled ability to score runs freely to all corners of the ground strikes fear into opposition bowlers. It's this that makes him a formiddable run scorer.

Hanu bats with an aura of confidence. His ability to stabilise an innings coupled with his ability to take the attack to both seamers and spinners, with the strength to clear any boundary, makes him a key batsman to have in any team at any stage of the game. An impressive striker of the ball, Hanu enjoys taking the attack to the bowlers with the intention of unsettling them to play to his advantage.

Hanu attended Pretoria Boys High, a prestigious sporting school that has produced a number of professional sportsmen. Hanu can be considered a late-bloomer having only made his professional debut at 20 years old with no prior national u19 or provincial representation. Despite this, he has very much blossomed into an excpetional cricketer through dedication and hard work. Extremely talented with the bat and gloves.

He made his professional debut for Northern Cape in 2022. He was given only a few opportunities but grabbed them with both hands finishing the season with an average of 112. The following season he was presented with an increased amount of opportunities and continued his fine run of form completing the season with an average of 66.75. After a few years of dominating at Northern Cape, he was offered to join Division 1 powerhouses, The Dolphins. He welcomed the new challenge to play at a higher level which hasn't hindered his progress as he has produced a number of notable performances for the Dolphins proving that he is a top talent in South Africa.

Hanu is looking to make a return to the UK, having previously had a short stint in 2023 at Newbuildings CC in Northern Ireland. He would make for a fantastic signing for any club wanting a guaranteed run scorer currently averaging above 50 in First-Class and above 45 in List A. He would without a doubt be one of the top overseas signings going into 2026.
