Teddy is a West Indies international top-order batter from Grenada, and one of the most highly rated young batters in Caribbean cricket. Still only 23, he has already played One Day International cricket for the West Indies, represented West Indies A, the West Indies Academy and the West Indies Under-19s, and captained the Windward Islands Volcanoes in regional one-day cricket.
Teddy is a technically sound top order batsman with a calm head and an excellent temperament. His great strength is setting an innings up. He sees off the new ball, builds a platform and gives the batters around him a start to work from, and once he is set he is very hard to remove. He can dig in and bat for long periods when the situation calls for it, but he is just as capable of taking the attack to the bowlers when the game needs moving on. That ability to play both styles is what makes him so valuable at the top of the order.
He has already shown that he has the capabilities in English conditions. On the West Indies Under-19 tour of England in 2021, he carried his bat for an unbeaten 97 against England Under-19 at Beckenham as wickets fell around him. Two days later on the same ground he struck a magnificent 133 off 117 balls, with 20 fours, to lead a successful run chase and win the match. It was his first international hundred, and it came on English soil.
He went on to represent the West Indies at the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where he signed off with an unbeaten 112 against Zimbabwe in an eight-wicket win. The step up to senior cricket followed quickly. He made his first-class debut for the Windward Islands Volcanoes in 2022, and later that year made his List A debut for West Indies A against Bangladesh A. For the West Indies Academy he was named Player of the Match on the opening day of the 2023 Super50 Cup after an unbeaten 95 off just 75 balls, with 14 fours and a six, to set up victory over Combined Campuses and Colleges. In first-class cricket he has added a century, with a best of 114, and eight half-centuries. He has also shown that he can be used as a bowling option, hvaing picked up a few first-class wickets.
In February 2024 he received the ultimate recognition, earning his West Indies ODI cap against Australia. That same year he was part of the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons squad in the Caribbean Premier League, making his T20 debut in the competition, and in 2025 he represented the Windward Islands Infernos in the West Indies Breakout League. When the Windward Islands named their squad for the 2025 Super50 Cup, they made him captain, a clear sign of the trust and leadership qualities the people who know him best see in him.
Teddy is now looking to make his mark in the UK. He brings international experience, a proven ability to score runs in English conditions, and the hunger of a young player who knows his best cricket is still ahead of him. For a club that wants a reliable opening or top-order batter who will build innings, set the tone and carry the batting, Teddy Bishop is a signing with genuine class and a very bright future.
